Message from the President (2022)

Dear Members of the Malaysian Menopause Society,

The Malaysian Menopause Society (MMS) will celebrate World Menopause Day (WMD) on 15th October 2022 at Sunway Resort Hotel from 9 am to 5 pm. As usual, the program of this annual event comprises medical talks, tabletop displays, dancercise, lucky draws, saxophone and belly dance performances. We are expecting more than 200 participants, and registration is mandatory.

We have successfully completed the 2022 MMS Women’s Health National Roadshows in Kuala Lumpur on 13th August, Melaka on 10th September, and Ipoh on 1st October. These three continuous professional development (CPD) events for health care professionals had an excellent turn-up and response. My gratitude to MMS Honorary Secretary, Ms. Eleen Ong, and Honorary Treasurer, Mdm Lim Ai Loon, for their immense contribution in helping me organize these roadshows.

MMS is collaborating with the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia in organizing our debut continuous professional development collaborative event, “MyWoman International Congress 2023,” for health care professionals on 28-30th July 2023 at Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur.

MMS will host the 10th Scientific Meeting of the Asia Pacific Menopause Federation in Kuala Lumpur in 2025. We are still in the planning stage and will inform you of further developments later.
MMS has applied to join the Council of Affiliated Menopause Societies (CAMS), comprised of representatives from national/regional menopause societies who have joined the International Menopause Society (IMS). MMS is affiliated with the Asia Pacific Menopause Federation and the International Menopause Society.

I am setting up a Menopause Support Group (MSG) for women with menopausal symptoms requiring education on tackling or overcoming their symptoms and complications of menopause. You can register during this WMD to join this support group if you need educational support, or you can join as a supporter. We will have more public events in 2023 when seniors are safer to gather.
