Message from the President

Dear Members and Friends of MMS,

Thank you for visiting the Malaysian Menopause Society (MMS) website and your interest in women’s health and well-being during the menopausal transition and beyond.

MMS has always been dedicated to providing support, education, and guidance to women as they journey through this significant phase of life. Our mission is more critical than ever, given the increasing life expectancy and the growing number of women entering menopause.

Over the years, we have witnessed remarkable advancements in the field of menopause management, both medical and non-medical. These breakthroughs have not only improved the quality of life for countless women, but have also empowered them to embrace this natural phase with confidence and vitality. MMS has played a pivotal role in disseminating this knowledge, and we will continue to do so with unwavering dedication.

One of our primary objectives is to promote awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups, particularly as women approach and enter menopause. Routine screenings and consultations with healthcare professionals can help identify and manage various health risks associated with menopause, such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, and hormonal imbalances. It is our duty to encourage women to prioritize their health and well-being during this transformative stage of life.

In the spirit of education and empowerment, we will continue organizing seminars and workshops to keep healthcare professionals and our members updated on the latest developments in menopause research and management. We also encourage you to actively engage in our events and discussions, where you can share your experiences, seek advice, and provide support to your fellow members.

I am delighted to announce that we have recently launched the updated Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) on Menopause, in collaboration with the Menopause Subcommittee of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia, which will aid healthcare professionals in menopause management. We hope that this tool will be well utilised especially at primary care level, the medical frontliners who are the first point of contact for women (and men).

In August 2023, I am also pleased to officially launch the MMS Support Group (MSG), which aims to foster a community of understanding, compassion, and empowerment for women experiencing menopause. Together, we can break down the stigma surrounding menopause, challenge societal misconceptions, and create an environment where every woman feels respected, valued, and supported during this life transition and beyond.

As we look ahead, MMS is committed to continue making a positive impact on the lives of women in Malaysia and beyond, as they embrace this beautiful journey of menopause. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every member of our society for your unwavering dedication and support.

Thank you, and let us move forward with renewed enthusiasm and a shared commitment to women’s health.

Warm regards,

Dr Ho Choon Moy, FRCOG
President, Malaysian Menopause Society
